Ariana Madix on Why She Stopped Paying Mortgage & Bills

Ariana Madix is explaining why she stopped paying bills after splitting from Tom Sandoval in March 2023.

After Sandoval, 41, called her out on Vanderpump Rules for failing to pay the mortgage on the home they continued to share after his months-long affair with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss, 29, was uncovered, Ariana, 38, revealed why she quit making payments and writing checks to her ex-boyfriend as he suggested she was just trying to be “difficult.”

“That has not been resolved,” Sandoval confirmed of their financial dispute on the February 6 episode of the Vanderpump Rules: After Show,  noting that he “had to tour” with his band, Sandoval and the Most Extras, to make ends meet after other deals fell through in the wake of “Scandoval.”

But according to Ariana, she has good reason for not paying: Sandoval has refused to provide her with an “itemized breakdown” of their bills.

Although Ariana revealed that she and Sandoval previously had a joint account that they would put “the same amount” of money into to pay their bills automatically, they refinanced their home in 2021, which changed things.

“The account that the mortgage started coming out of was no longer the joint account, it was his account. And I then, that was at the same time that he got this heloc loan, that I co-signed,” she explained. “So basically I’d asked for this itemized breakdown for so long, and it would be like, ‘You owe x amount of money,’ and I’m like, ‘How did you figure this out?’”

While Ariana wanted to see a list of their bills, Sandoval felt she was being unreasonable.

“I have to pay for accounting to send every detailed receipt?” Sandoval wondered. “It’s like, ‘Yo. This is the bank statement. This is what came out of my account from Spectrum. What do you think? I have like, a side deal with Spectrum or with AT&T? No. I don’t.’”

Reflecting on all that’s changed between her and Sandoval in the past year, Ariana acknowledged, “Sh*t’s different now.”

“When we were together, maybe I would’ve trusted that sh*t to be accurate, but once all this sh*t went down, it’s like, I don’t trust a f*cking word that you say, so if you’re gonna tell me I owe you a certain amount of money, you better be able to show your work,” she stated.

Then, when Katie Maloney, 37, asked if she could “prove that [she’s] been paying [her] part of the mortgage” to shut Sandoval up, Ariana confirmed she could not.

“It comes out of his account. As of the refinance, I can’t prove sh*t except that I’ve given him checks for random amounts of money,” she revealed. “But now I don’t write him checks because I don’t believe a word he says about what I actually owe him.”

Although Ariana used to give checks to Sandoval, she quit doing so once she learned she’d been overpaying.

“The amount of money I was giving him every month for the mortgage was an overpayment, so until I get that breakdown, which I’ve asked now three different assistants for, you ain’t getting sh*t for me because you can’t show me what actually this is and I don’t believe a word you say. You’ve proven yourself to be untrustworthy,” Ariana declared.

Still, according to Sandoval, her behavior is “annoying.”

“I feel like she’s just trying to be difficult. I don’t know what to do,” he admitted.

Vanderpump Rules season 11 airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
