Aria Awards 2023: the most unforgettable moments at the ARIAs 2023

It’s officially time for Australian music’s night of nights. Yes, the ARIA Awards are here!

The red carpet is underway, and the star-studded ceremony has a stacked lineup of performers, presenters and hosts that will kick off live from 5pm on Stan.

Here, 9honey takes you through all the biggest moments as they happen. 

Red carpet near-miss

Christian Wilkins stepped out on the red carpet in a stunning nude dress from the Skims x Swarovski collaboration, revealing the jaw-dropping dress almost didn’t arrive in time.

Speaking to his red carpet co-host Bridget Hustwaite, Christian explained that he ordered the dress the day the collaboration dropped and had it shipped to a friend in LA who then forwarded it onto him in Australia.

“It just arrived last night,” he laughed.

Kylie in the running for 21-year first

The nominations include a raft of Aussie and international talent, including Australia’s sweetheart Kylie Minogue in the running to win her first ARIA in 21 years with a total of four nominations.

The evening will also see iconic band Jet inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, as well as a performance to honour 50 Years of Hip Hop in Australia featuring some of the genres biggest homegrown talent.

Richard Wilkins spoke with his son and ARIAs red carpet host, Christian on Today ahead of the ceremony.

“I’m very excited, I’m very honoured to be the host of the Toblerone Diamond Edition Red Carpet and see some of the incredible looks people are wearing,” said Christian.

Viewers also got a sneak peek of singer Dami Im’s outfit in the form of a stunning 22-carat diamond necklace, including a real Toblerone praline.

“The ARIAs can go for a while, so if she gets hungry, she can have a snack,” teased Christian.

In true dad fashion, Richard also made sure to check that his son had brushed up on his knowledge ahead of a big afternoon interviewing celebs on the red carpet.

“I’ve done all my homework, I’ve been up until 2am, and I am so ready,” he replied.

High-profile performances revealed

The 2023 ARIAs have got a spectacular lineup of Aussie stars set to perform their hits. 

Those on the lineup include G Flip (who has six nominations), Budjerah (five nominations), DMA’S (five nominations), Brad Cox (three nominations), Peach PRC (three nominations), Jessica Mauboy (one nomination), Meg Mac (one nomination) and Fanny Lumsden (one nomination).

Aussie Band Jet will also be closing out the show with a medley of their biggest hits, as well as a performance honouring 50 Years of Hip Hop in Australia featuring Bliss n Eso, Barkaa, and Dj Krissy among other homegrown talent.
