Arconiacs Rejoice! Only Murders in the Building Renewed for Season 5!

Get your chips and dips out! It’s time to celebrate! Our favorite murder-solving trio will be back!

Hulu has given its hit series, Only Murders in the Building, a green light for Season 5.

Not that its renewal was a mystery to us Arconiacs, but we’re glad it was solved sooner rather than later.

Who doesn’t want more Mabel, Oliver, and Charles? There’s no better trio on TV than those three played by Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin.

So, another ten episodes of their comical, murder-solving ways is great news for Arconiacs, and the perfect pick-me-up for the almost end-of-summer blues.

Only Murders in the Building has already received 21 Emmy Nominations this year and 28 nominations for the prior two seasons.

Both Martin Short and Steven Martin are up for Best Lead Actor, and Selena Gomez is up for Best Lead Actress.

The show also received a nomination for Best Comedy Series and a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Meryl Streep.

They deserve every nomination they get!

More Arconia Mysteries

We’re already in the throes of the trio’s latest mystery: Who killed Sazz Pataki, and who has it out for Charles?

Two episodes in, and it’s already proving to be a conundrum for our charming trio, but we all know they’ll get to the bottom of it.

The first two episodes of Season 4 have been phenomenal so far.

As I mentioned in my review of Only Murders in the Building Season 4: “Once Upon a Time in the West,” the trio seems to be returning to its roots, giving us the same vibe as the show did when it debuted.

That vibe continued on Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 2 as Charles dealt with the realization that Sazz had indeed been murdered.

We got more personal with Charles as he reminisced about his long friendship with Sazz.

As sad and shocking as her murder was, the upside is that it’s bringing our trio closer together and further building a bond of friendship and camaraderie not only personally but also professionally with the podcast.

And they’re having fun together, too!

So far, we’ve been to Hollywood and back and even met some super interesting characters from the West building, the “Sauce Family” being my favorite so far.

And we haven’t been drowned by guest stars elbowing our main characters out of the way — a totally welcome relief from what I think was the disaster of Season 3.

We still have eight more glorious episodes to go, and knowing there will be another murder to solve at the end of Season 4 is akin to the feeling Howard must have when he eats up Gravey and Sevelyn!

It’s a scrumptious feeling!

Let’s Speculate

While it’s still early in the season, it doesn’t hurt to speculate on what we’d like to see in Only Murders in the Building Season 5.

I’d like to see Mabel, Oliver, and Charles continue building their friendship and growing their podcast. Clearly, a movie being made about them is a significant boost.

Hopefully, a movie won’t put an end to their podcast.

Oliver still has a long way to go to overcome his self-serving ways, so another season will give him more opportunities to grow.

Mabel needs to continue to explore who she is and who she wants to be so she can be happy, but she also needs to stay true to herself.

When and if she gets a new apartment or even if she stays with Theo, she should paint another mural on her wall. It was beautiful.

Selena Gomez is still the best part of Only Murders in the Building. No one’s yet been able to convince me otherwise. Mabel Mora is the heart of the show. She just needs more room to grow.

Charles will probably experience his most significant growth this season as he goes through the grief process.

Of course, another season means more guest stars, but as long as they stay in the backseat like they have been so far this season, it’s all good.

It’s way too early to try to guess who the new murder victim will be at the Arconia, but all I can say is better not be Howard!

Instead, another season is another opportunity to give Howard more screen time and maybe give him a larger role in helping our trio solve the Arconia’s mysteries.
