Annual Macon Christmas Parade starts Sunday afternoon

MACON, Ga. — Maconites — get ready for a holiday tradition! The annual Macon Christmas Parade is set to step off Sunday afternoon, and we have all the information you need to know before you head out.
What’s this year’s theme?
The parade’s theme this year is “Macon Christmas Jolly.”
When and where can I see the parade?
The parade will step off at 4 p.m. Sunday, and the route will cover several blocks in downtown Macon. This year, it starts at Terminal Station on Cherry Street and Fifth Street. The route will go down Cherry to First Street before turning right toward Mulberry Street. Then, floats will turn right down Mulberry and continue down to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.
Who’s in this year’s parade?
While we don’t know exactly who will be in the parade, you can expect to see marching bands, nonprofits, schools and more. Also, look out for some Macon-Bibb County leaders.
What’s going on after the parade?
Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza: In downtown Macon, over 1,000,000 Christmas lights will dazzle during the night from Nov. 29 through Jan. 5, synchronized to some of your Christmas songs recorded by the Macon Pops. Located in the heart of downtown Macon, the full, synchronized display takes place from 6 pm to 10 p.m., and between 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. the lights will beam downtown.
Christmas at the Mansion – Milledgeville: The Old Governor’s Mansion in Milledgeville will be fully decorated for the holidays and offering tours nightly until Dec. 23. Candlelight tours are available on Dec. 21. Reservations are required for all activities.
Lake Sinclair Light Show – Milledgeville: A yearly tradition at Lake Sinclair is to decorate the docks with colorful Christmas lights, and 2024 is keeping up with the trend. Lake Sinclair’s ‘Christmas Cove’ will be lighting up every night through Dec. 31, and putting on one of the most breathtaking displays in Central Georgia. The lights only come on after sunset, for maximum effect. This is viewable only by boat.
