Amy Schumer Leads Netflix Comedy ‘Kinda Pregnant’ For Sandler’s Happy Madison – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee Amy Schumer has been set to produce and star in Kinda Pregnant, a new film that Tyler Spindel (The Out-Laws) is directing for Netflix and Happy Madison.

Written by Julie Paiva, the film follows Lainy (Schumer), who is jealous of her best friend’s pregnancy and begins wearing a fake baby bump — then accidentally meets the man of her dreams.

In addition to Schumer, producers on the project include Adam Sandler, Tim Herlihy, Judit Maull, Kevin Grady and Eli Thomas for Happy Madison, and Molly Sims for Something Happy Productions. The executive producers are Barry Bernardi, Michael D Robins and Kevin Kane.

Best known on the film side for Trainwreck, the 2015 Uni rom-com from Judd Apatow that had her starring opposite Bill Hader, Schumer’s also been seen starring in the acclaimed A24 drama The Humans, STX’s comedy I Feel Pretty and the military pic Thank You for Your Service with Miles Teller. Otherwise best known for her sketch series Inside Amy Schumer, which was recently revived for a fifth season at Paramount+, and the series Life & Beth that she created and still stars in for Hulu, she’ll next be seen in the Netflix comedy Unfrosted, marking the directorial debut of Jerry Seinfeld. Additionally, she released the new comedy special Emergency Contact this year.

Most recently, Spindel directed The Out-Laws, Netflix and Happy Madison’s action comedy released in July that stars Adam DeVine, Nina Dobrev, Ellen Barkin and Pierce Brosnan. He’s also directed specials for comics like Rob Schneider and Greg Fitzimmons, as well as Netflix’s The Wrong Missy and other titles.

Schumer is repped by WME, Ocean Avenue, and Schreck Rose Dapello; Spindel by Verve.
