Summer House is finally back after what most people would call a dramatic season 8. Now, not only are Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard forced to be around each other, but the same is true for Ciara Miller and West Wilson following their short-lived romance. Recently, Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula weighed in on the tension in the house. Plus, they also addressed the breakup rumors.
Fans of Summer House know that Kyle and Amanda have been married since 2021. Of course, they also work together on the show, and she plays a role in his beverage company. Despite this, there have been rumors that they are on the outs with one another.
Recently, Kyle and Amanda did an interview with E News while they were on a red carpet. Naturally, one of the most pressing questions the interviewer asked had to do with their relationship. According to Amanda, “We are doing great.”
She continued, “Our entire relationship there have been some sort of rumors going on, from me being pregnant to us getting divorced. It seems to be something new every time, but none of them are true. I’m not pregnant, we’re not getting divorced.”
Kyle then weighed in and said despite them not being perfect, they were in a great place. He explained, “We’re a pretty open book, and we are by no means perfect. I think that, for better for worse, we’ve never really held back.”
Kyle added, “We’ve shared everything with people. Probably more than we care to share. So, for us to keep something like that a secret where it turns into a rumor is crazy.”
He went on to detail how the rumors impact them by saying, “Don’t get me wrong, the rumors sometimes kind of hurt, because it feels like, ‘My God, are people just not rooting for us?’”
Amanda chimed in, “No, they’re not, it turns out.”
He also said that people probably aren’t rooting for their love because they only want “messy reality television.” According to him, “It’s interesting with all the different fan accounts these days, the rumors play a totally different part than they used to.”
The interviewer then mentioned that there are also rumors that they’re planning to have a child soon. Amanda said, “I feel like I’m a child, and for me to have a baby would be illegal. Like I’d be a teen mom, it just doesn’t seem right yet. I have to feel like I’m my age and I’m not there. If I got pregnant right now, I’d be afraid to tell my parents.”
The couple also spoke to Decider about the season. One of the first questions centered around Lindsay and what signs they picked up on that alluded to her being pregnant. Amanda explained, “She wasn’t drinking. She was literally grabbing glasses of wine and pretending to sip and putting it down, and then grabbing another full glass of wine and pretending to drink. We were at two weddings with her.”
Kyle then said, “ Two international weddings where everyone’s there for a three-day affair. It’s very easy to pick up on whether someone’s drinking or not.”
From there, Amanda revealed that she recently met Lindsay’s daughter for the first time. She says she cried during the sweet moment with the newborn.
The topic of Carl also came up, and the interviewer wanted to know if Kyle reached out to let him know about her pregnancy announcement. He confirmed that he didn’t, but he was sure Carl had found out. Amanda then added, “Carl’s made fully aware of everything that Lindsey posts. He can’t escape it. There’s someone always sending something to him. The poor guy.”
Kyle went on, ” I think for him, as you probably saw towards the end of the first episode, he’s kind of walking on eggshells because there’s just a lot of pent-up anxiety as to what this summer is going to look like and feel like.”
The interviewer then mentioned Paige DeSorbo and all the rumors surrounding her split with Craig Conover. She said, “Leave the girl alone. Let her just live. She has shared so much of her life. She shares everything on the show, on her podcast. Let her just exist for five minutes. Just leave her alone. She’s just a girl at the end of the day. I couldn’t imagine being stalked like that and having people constantly just making things up or making assumptions or following me. ”
From there, Kyle seemingly shaded Craig by saying, “Well, the worst part, the cheating rumors, someone’s got to put those to bed.”
Regarding where he stands with Craig after their drama, Kyle explained, ” There were some hurt feelings on both sides. Going into the summer, I think there were things that we needed to address. I think we made the most of it. We had a conversation. People will see that play out. Ultimately, it was about friendship.”
He added, “Quite frankly, it really had very little to do with business. We were not really on the same page, but it is what it is. When I heard the news, I guess that I was shocked. I reached out to Paige. I reached out to Craig. I just let him know, “Hey, sorry to hear it. I was rooting for you guys.” I haven’t heard back. But I’m not on the top of his list, so that’s fine. ”
Ciara and West are also mentioned and how they are able to navigate their fractured relationship. They both say there isn’t much movement toward them being friends. According to Kyle, ” I think there are times where Carl and Lindsay had a better vibe in the house, just in terms of coexisting. I feel like the Ciara and West thing is pretty raw, especially coming off the heels of the reunion.”
Amanda elaborated on this by saying, “The biggest thing is that Carl and Lindsay were able to communicate and have conversations. West just gets so tongue-tied and doesn’t know how to speak up. So it’s hard to reconcile in any way when the other person’s not saying much or being like, “Yeah, okay, sorry.”
