The first of the month is usually when Netflix adds the majority of its titles. While that is the case with February as well, it is a small number of new additions to kick off the month than is typical for the streaming service. There are still a lot of great options to choose from for the month with something for Netflix users of all kinds.

There are great family-friendly options like the animated adventure How to Train Your Dragon 2 and the live-action Tom and Jerry. There are also gritty thrillers like the war movie Fury starring Brad Pitt and the underrated crime movie Shot Caller. Horror fans can enjoy the first of the two-part adaptation of Stephen King’s It as well as the excellent throwback horror movie X from Ti West. To coincide with the premiere of the final season of Young Sheldon, Netflix is also adding season 6 of the popular sitcom spinoff to ensure fans are up-to-date before the end.

The movie brings audiences into a strange world of the beings who control the night, but is especially intriguing given that it was written by Oscar-winner Charlie Kaufman. It will be joined by the rom-com Plus One as well as the comedy series Let’s Talk About CHU from Taiwan.

February 3

Spielberg’s Sci-Fi Blockbuster

February 3 will see the addition of a Steven Spielberg blockbuster on Netflix. Based on the novel by Ernest Cline, Ready Player One is a grand sci-fi story set in a future in which society escapes into a virtual reality video game. When the game creator dies, he sets up a challenge for players to seek out a hidden Easter egg within the game. Though it is not regarded as Spielberg’s best movie as it lacks some of his magic, it is fun to see him operating in a big CGI world of nostalgia and fun references.

February 5

February 5 will see six new titles being added to Netflix, including the complete series of two popular shows. With the rise in popularity in the murder mystery genre, now is the perfect time for Monk to make a comeback. Following the well-received Monk movie, all eight seasons of the show will be added to Netflix starring Tony Shaloub as a freelance detective with OCD who helps police investigations. Also arriving are all five seasons of Damon Wayan’s domestic sitcom My Wife and Kids.

There will also be sports documentary specials being added to Netflix on this day from the excellent 30 for 30 series. Nature Boy is a look at iconic wrestler Ric Flair, but just in time for the Super Bowl, the really interesting one is Four Falls of Buffalo which follows the four consecutive years the Bills made it to the Super Bowl only to lose.

Netflix’s latest cult documentary will be arriving on February 7 along with two international shows. Raël: The Alien Prophet follows the bizarre and incredible story of a religion that grew out of a belief and fascination in alien life only to grow into a controversial cult with an eccentric leader. The Polish version of the reality dating show Love Never Lies also returns to Netflix along with the Brazilian family adventure show Luz: The Light of the Heart.

An Adaptation Of A Best-Selling Romance Novel

A new romantic miniseries is arriving on February 8 on Netflix. Based on the novel by David Nicholls, One Day follows Dexter and Emma, two young people who meet for the first time just as they are about to graduate and go about their separate lives. However, over the years, these two are drawn back together by that initial connection as the series explores the different paths they have gone down which continues to pull them away from each other. It could make for the ideal Valentine’s Day watching experience this month.

Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day return as three friends who find themselves on the cusp of success with a new business idea only for it to be stolen from them by a new partner (Christoph Waltz). As a way to get what they want, they decide to kidnap his dimwitted son (Chris Pine). Along with the exciting new cast members, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx, and Kevin Spacey return for the sequel.

The Final Season Of A Hit Thriller Series

February 11 adds one more season of a very bingeworthy thriller series. A new Netflix Original rom-com will be arriving on February 14 along with the return of a popular reality dating series, providing some great Valentine’s Day plans. Players stars Gine Rodriguez as a woman who is an expert at devising successful hookup approaches for her male friends but finds that she needs their help when she falls for a new love interest. Love is Blind also returns for season 6 in which people participate in a matchmaking scenario all about the connection rather than the looks.

These two titles will also be joined by three new international additions to Netflix with the German rom-com The Heartbreak Agency, the Turkish rom-com A Soweto Love Story, and the third season of the Brazilian mystery series Good Morning, Verônica.
