Abby and Brittany conjoined twins: Abby Hensel married

The Hensel twins, who documented their unique lives in a US documentary series, have welcomed a third member into their world.

Abby and Brittany are conjoined twins who found fame after appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show as children. The pair proceeded to appear on several reality shows but have been observing quiet lives since their show Abby & Brittany aired in 2012.

When the show ended, the pair had just graduated with college degrees and since then they have both become teachers.

Abby, the left-side conjoined twin, has now found love, Today reports.

According to public records obtained by Today, the former reality star married Josh Bowling, a nurse and United States Army veteran, in a private ceremony in 2021.

The couple kept the news of their nuptials private until last year when they shared photos of the ceremony to the twins’ combined TikTok @abbyandbrittanyhensel.

Pictures the couple shared of the wedding show the happy couple celebrating their love. Abby and her sister wore a simple but elegant white gown and Bowling wore a grey suit.

The couple and Brittany now live in Minnesota, where the Hensels were born and raised and the twins are both fifth grade teachers, per Today.

Abby and Brittany are dicephalus conjoined twins. They have separate brains, hearts and other organs but share the same bloodstream and all organs below the waist. Abby controls their right and leg and Brittany controls the left.

Born in 1990, the twins’ parents Patty and Mike Hensel opted to forgo separation surgery as the risks were too great and the chances of them both surviving were extremely low.

Speaking with Time magazine in 2001 Mike said: “How could you pick between the two?”

The twins first shared their story publicly in 1996 on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
