Abbeville police led on high speed chase ending in Bibb County

ABBEVILLE, Ga. — Officers chased a car through multiple Central Georgia counties after an attempted contraband drop at Wilcox State Prison, according to a press release from the Abbeville Police Department.

Chief Jay Williams says he and officer James Aultman conducted a traffic stop on Wednesday around 3:30 a.m. after seeing a violation.

Aultman noticed a large drone in the car with tape over the lights. The release says that this evidence was indicative of drone contraband drops.

Aultman asked the driver to step out of the car and then the suspects drove away.

The two officers gave chase. The suspects drove at speeds over 135 miles per hour.

The chase went through Pulaski, Dooly, and Houston counties. It ended in Bibb County with the suspect’s car crashing on I-16 just before the Springfield exit in downtown Macon.

The driver and passenger were arrested and taken by Abbeville P.D. back to Wilcox County Jail where warrants are pending.
