‘The White Lotus’, ‘Euphoria’ Season 3 & More HBO Premiere Dates
The recent Coming To Max in 2025 trailer featured the new and returning HBO series set to release new seasons next year, including Season 3 of Mike White’s The White Lotus and the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The anticipated third season of Euphoria was not included, and, speaking today at the Wells Fargo TMT Summit, JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming for HBO/Max parent Warner Bros. Discovery, confirmed that the series starring Zendaya is targeting a 2026 return.
That was to be expected as filming on the new season is not slated to begin until early 2025. Additionally, Perrette revealed that The White Lotus‘ Thailand-set third season will premiere in February. Its cast includes Walton Goggins, Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Blackpink’s Lisa and Season 1’s Natasha Rothwell.
The Last of Us Season 2, previously announced as coming in Spring 2025, is on target for Q2, Perrette said. There was a little discrepancy over A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which Perrette mentioned for a summer premiere. Earlier this year, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, had said that the new show was projected to debut in late 2025. According to sources, it is still on track for a Q4 debut.
“Our biggest tentpoles started to come back in rotation this summer with House of The Dragon 2, then we go The White Lotus which will come in the first quarter in February, then we go into The Last Of Us Season 2 in the second quarter, then we have a new Game of Thrones series, smaller scale series, that will come in over the summer,” Perrette said. “As we look even beyond that we’ll see the third season of Euphoria probably in early 2026, then we get back into House of the Dragon Season 3, so we’re now in a cadence of having at least 2 or 3 of our major tentpoles every year.”
Perrette was in synch on the release plans for the upcoming Harry Potter series.
“As you look at ’26 and into ’27, you begin a 10-year journey on the ‘Harry Potter’ series, which we’re super excited about,” he said. “And I’d argue, may be the biggest event by the time we get to that series.”
Speaking with Deadline in September, Bloys revealed that the adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books is targeting a debut in late 2026-2027.
Amid speculation over Euphoria‘s future, Bloys last month confirmed that HBO is moving forward with the long-gestating third season of the Sam Levinson series. “We are shooting the season, I have read the scripts, we’re happy, we’re moving ahead,” he said. “I know the show gets a lot of attention now because it has created some genuine movie stars, and they have various projects that they’re working on. But we are shooting this season, so nothing has changed.”
Referring to Euphoria main cast m,emebrs Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi and recurring player Colman Domingo, Bloys revealed that Season 3 2ill consist of eight episode. It is incorporating a time jump from the events of Season 2, which aired in January-February 2022.
Perrette also spoke of HBO/Max’s plans for yearly volume of DC content.
“We’re releasing Creature Commandos, an animated series, which kicks off James [Gunn]’ new DCU, we have Peacemaker, we’re working on a DC Lanterns, but we’re thinking maybe do 2 DC series a year is probably plenty. You don’t need 4, you don’t need 5.”
