Nachie Marsham joins Skybound as senior editor
Nachie Marsham has joined Skybound Entertainment as senior editor, it was announced yesterday, where he’ll oversee both developing a new slate of original comics and licensing partnerships, such as Lego Books.
Marsham is an industry veteran who was previously Publisher at IDW Publishing (See our intro interview here), Executive Editor at Disney Publishing Worldwide, working on the Marvel Press line, and an editor in the Bat group at DC.
“Nachie Marsham adds an incredible amount of experience and passion to Skybound, and he’s already working to grow our original and licensed comic programs in new directions,” said Sean Mackiewicz, SVP, Publisher in a statement. “Our editorial team is the best in the business, and we remain committed to delivering the most exciting, emotionally charged comics in the marketplace, week after week.”
“It’s fantastic to be joining Skybound’s editorial team and coming on board to work on such a kaleidoscopic array of titles,” said Marsham in his own statement. “It’s great to be with a company with such an amazing history, a murderer’s row of a backlist, an award-winning juggernaut of a front list, and a burning desire to keep pushing comics storytelling forward.”
Marsham joins other recent hires at Skybound including Ben Abernathy (Executive Editor), Blake Kobashigawa (Senior Director, Business Development), and Alex Hargett (Director, Brand, Editorial).
The move comes as Skybound has found critical and commercial success with its Hasbro-themed Energon Universe line, as well as branched out into more licensed publishing with a Universal Monsters line and a continuation of the Creepshow anthology. And of course they have Invincible and The Walking Dead, the sturdy warhorses from Skybound founder Robert Kirkman. Other media properties in the pipeline include Heart Attack, based on the Skybound Original by Shawn Kittelson and Eric Zawadzki, in development as a “live-action anime” television series with Japanese network Fuji TV. Gasolina, from Maciewicz and artist Niko Walter will be an audio drama from Audible; and doubtless, as they say, more to come.
