One unlikely source that has given us a bit more insight into what the successor to the Nintendo Switch will be like is the FCC. Not that long ago, an FCC filing suggested that the Switch 2 would have Wi-Fi 6 and NFC for amiibo support. However, another FCC filing has made an appearance earlier today, and this one may be even more interesting.
At first glance, what Nintendo has filed to the FCC seems innocent. It’s a game controller, but fans picked up on how similar it is to the Gamecube controller. Not only that, but it has the prefix for the Switch 2 model number, not its predecessor. Because of this, fans are wondering if this FCC filing may actually be for a Nintendo Switch Online Gamecube controller for the Switch 2.
Nintendo did confirm that Switch Online will be available on the Switch 2, so it isn’t out of the realm of possibility. And a new console would be a perfect opportunity for Nintendo to debut a new retro console library. Still, it is worth remembering that this is based mainly on speculation. It hasn’t been officially confirmed either. Nevertheless, you can see a picture of the item featured in the FCC filing down below.
