8 Burning Questions Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 Needs To Answer

Summary

  • Nine Perfect Strangers season 1’s ending may have been a figment of Frances’s imagination, leaving questions for season 2.
  • Carmel’s secret may be revealed and she may face consequences for her actions in season 2.
  • The disappearance of the guests’ cars is a mystery that could be important in the second season.

Hulu’s hit TV show Nine Perfect Strangers season 1 ended on a mysterious note, leaving burning questions that season 2 will have to answer. The popular drama was based on Liane Moriarty’s bestseller of the same name. Due to the popularity of the show, which at the time of its premiere was Hulu’s most-watched original series ever, Nine Perfect Strangers got a surprising season 2 renewal. Since Nine Perfect Strangers does not have a second book, it stands to reason that Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 will need a fresh storyline.

Nine Perfect Strangers season 1’s ending left some loose ends that needed to be tied. For instance, it was unclear whether the ending of the show was real. Seeing as Masha was arrested, it will be interesting to see how Nicole Kidman will be returning for Nine Perfect Strangers season 2. When season 1 ended, the finale sort of implied that it was the final chapter of the book. Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 has a new talented cast and a fresh plot, but whether it will answer all of the questions left by the previous season remains to be seen.

8 Was Nine Perfect Strangers Season 1’s Ending Real?

The Finale Might Have Been A Figment Of Frances’s Imagination

Season 1 ended with most of the Nine Perfect Strangers characters seemingly living a better life than they did before they went to Tranquillum. However, the finale could have an alternate explanation. Seeing as Frances is shown writing and imagining a life with Tony, it could be argued that the ending was not real but a figment of Frances’ imagination. Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 can explain whether the guests left Tranquillum and lived a better life as shown in the season 1 finale or if there is an alternate explanation.

7 Will Carmel Get Punished For Her Crimes?

Carmel’s Secret May Be Revealed

Regina Hall with her hands under her chin in Nine Perfect Strangers

Carmel was one of the most troubled guests at Tranquillum. She not only physically attacked Masha while she was at the retreat, but was also the person who shot Masha after finding out she was her husband’s mistress. Carmel was also stalking and threatening Masha. After Carmel attacked Masha, she was put in solitary confinement for her safety and those of the other guests. Masha might have seemed to forgive Carmel for shooting her, but that doesn’t mean her secret will stay safe or that she won’t face any repercussions for her actions.

6 What Happened To The Guests’ Cars?

The Disappearance Of The Guests’ Cars Is A Mystery That Needs To Be Solved

Frances and Tony

After Frances and Tony decided to be together, they wanted to leave Tranquillum only to find none of their cars were in the garage. The disappearance of the cars is one of Nine Perfect Strangers season 1’s mysteries that didn’t get solved. There was no explanation as to why the cars were no longer in the garage, where they had taken them, or why Masha was shown driving Ben’s Lamborghini. Most of the mysteries in Nine Perfect Strangers were there for a reason and added to the show’s plot, so the disappearance of the cars could prove to be important in the second season.

5 What Will Happen To Yao and Delilah?

Yao And Delilah Could Fall Apart

Yao, Delilah and Masha talking

Yao and Delilah had a complicated relationship that always had Masha looming over them. Now that Masha seems to be no longer part of their lives, Yao and Delilah can take some time out to solve their issues. Alternatively, the couple might be too far gone to be together again. Yao chose Masha over Delilah, and Delilah reported Masha to the police, both actions which could be hard for either of them to overcome. Additionally, now that Tranquillum is being run by Ben and Jessica, it remains to be seen whether Yao and Delilah will remain as employees, or if they will decide to start over somewhere new.

4 How Did Ben And Jessica Take Over Tranquillum House?

Jessica And Ben Seem To Be New Owners Of Tranquillum House

One of the closing scenes of Nine Perfect Strangers season 1 showed Jessica and Ben as the new owners of Tranquillum. Ben, who had become an instant millionaire when he won the Lottery, talked about wanting to go back to work. Jessica, Ben’s wife, wanted to start a business that would prove that she was more than just a pretty face. In a way, the fact that Jessica and Ben ended up being the owners of Tranquillum makes sense. That, however, does not explain how and why Ben and Jessica decided to stay in Tranquillum given all the things that had happened at the retreat.

3 Why Doesn’t Tranquillum Get Shut Down?

Tranquillum Should Have Been Shut Down

Ben and Jessica being shown as the owners of Tranquillum proves that the retreat continued even after Masha got arrested. This, of course, is surprising because there were so many issues with the treatments at Tranquillum. The guests were given hallucinogens without their consent, locked away and put through a traumatizing simulation, and were sometimes coerced by Masha to partake in activities they may not have wanted to. The illegality of giving drugs to guests without their consent and the fact that possession of the drugs was illegal should have had Tranquillum shut down, but the retreat somehow survived all that.

2 What Happened To Masha After She Got Arrested?

The Evidence Against Masha Should Have Been Enough To Get Her Arrested

Masha had a sort of control over people that seemed almost supernatural, so the fact that she might not have been arrested is not surprising. Given the number of crimes that Masha had been engaged in and the incriminating footage that Lars was filming, Masha should have at least spent some time in jail. Masha had drugged her guests with high levels of hallucinogens that would have resulted in their deaths. Masha also had a lawsuit filed against her by the family of a guest who died at Tranquillum which should have given the police even more reason to look into her.

Despite all this, Masha seemed to have wormed her way out of any legal repercussions. After Delilah had reported Masha to the police, and she was driven away in handcuffs, nothing else seemed to have happened to her. She’s shown living a perfectly normal life with the hallucination of her daughter keeping her company. Whether this is a delusion and Masha is locked up remains to be seen in the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers.

1 Will Masha Go Back To Tranquillum?

Masha Achieved Her Goal

While Masha was at Traquillum, she was interested in the Marconi’s because, like her, they too had lost someone close to them. Masha, who had been taking hallucinogens for a long time had not been able to see her seven-year-old daughter who had died. She needed the Marconi’s to see her daughter because they had succeeded in seeing hallucinations of Zach. Masha ultimately got what she wanted, so it seems like there would be no point in her going back to Tranquillum. However, if she doesn’t go back to the retreat, then what will her role be in Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 is unclear.
