Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Time Bandits season 1, episodes 5 & 6.

Time Bandits episodes 5 and 6 saw Kevin and the bandits continue their travels, ending on a cliffhanger that spells bad news for the group. In the new Time Bandits episodes, the misfits get into their usual trouble with the people they encounter, but larger threats still loom. Time Bandits season 1, episodes 3 and 4 revealed Kevin and the bandits have to worry about more than Pure Evil, Fianna, and his many demons. Kevin and the time bandits are more concerned with their own missions, leaving them vulnerable.

In a change from the original Time Bandits movie, Kevin is trying to travel home to the moment before Fianna coaled his parents, hopeful he can save them. Meanwhile, his younger sister, Saffron, is looking for him, unaware of what’s happened to her parents and without an odd group of thieves with a time map to help her. Kevin and Saffron still haven’t crossed paths, and Kevin hasn’t been able to get home yet, but he got to meet a few more historical figures in Time Bandits episodes 5 and 6.

6 Jasper Warned Kevin & The Time Bandits To Not Let Supreme Being Get The Map

Supreme Being Wants To Reboot The Earth In Time Bandits

At the end of Time Bandits season 1, episodes 3 and 4, Supreme Being reveals to his henchmen that he’s planning on rebooting the Earth and making Earth 2. This would get rid of everything, everyone, and all the history that’s happened thus far. Though Supreme Being is supposed to be the opposite of Pure Evil, his plan sounds more evil than good. One of his henchmen, Jasper, shows he doesn’t believe in his boss’ plan when he reaches out to Kevin and the time bandits.

Jasper travels to where they are and warns them about Supreme Being’s plan, not telling them what it is but that they can’t let him get the time map. The time map is what Supreme Being needs to enact his plan, and if Kevin and the time bandits can keep it from him, they could save their Earth. They also need to keep the map from Pure Evil, which will likely become a tall task in the upcoming Time Bandits episodes.

5 Casanova Was Enamored With Judy In Time Bandits Episode 5

Casanova Wanted Judy To Run Away With Him

After Jasper’s warning, Kevin and the time bandits travel to Georgian England, a period of British history that lasted from 1714 to the 1830s. They specifically traveled to the Earl of Sandwich’s castle, where he was hosting a pineapple party. Though Kevin and the time bandits aren’t invited, they manage to sneak into the castle. Among the guests was Giacomo Casanova, the famous Italian adventurer and author, who is best known today for his many affairs.

Casanova brags about this often in Time Bandits season 1, episode 5, with women and even horses fainting at the sight of him. However, Judy is far from impressed by him, not understanding his appeal. This makes Casanova even more interested in her in some funny scenes where he talks about desiring women who don’t want him more than those who do. He even asks Judy to run away with him, an offer she obviously declines. This continues Time Bandits’ trend of making caricatures of historical figures for laughs.

4 Penelope Got Into A Duel With The Earl Of Sandwich

To get into the Earl of Sandwich’s party, Kevin and the time bandits cover their faces in flour and try to blend in with the wealthy guests. Though they aren’t really fooling anyone, the Earl of Sandwich lets it slide at first, and they take advantage of the opportunity to eat. Unfortunately, they don’t realize pineapple isn’t on the menu, as it was a rare delicacy at the time, and they are simply supposed to look at it, not eat it.

The Earl of Sandwich challenges Penelope to a duel in Time Bandits season 1, episode 5 when they’re caught, and though she misses, she actually tries to shoot him. It’s only then that she learns no one shoots to kill in duels anymore. Fianna arrives in the middle of their rematch. They escape, but the Earl of Sandwich isn’t as lucky, as she shoots him in the chest. Another close call with Fianna in Time Bandits suggests it won’t be long before they can’t outrun her anymore.

3 Mansa Musa Valued Kevin As A Storyteller In Time Bandits

Mansa Musa Took Kevin To Cairo In Time Bandits Episode 6

After they escape Georgian England, Kevin and the bandits travel to the Mali Empire in the early 13th century in Time Bandits season 1, episode 6. There, they meet Mansa Musa, the king who was also known as the richest man in the world at the time. Of course, this means Penelope comes up with a plan to steal from him, which promptly fails, though he offers them the same gold they were planning to steal. Mansa Musa also takes an interest in Kevin, whom he believes is a great storyteller, inviting him to Cairo to meet the sultan.

Kevin has always been shunned for his love of history and tendency to share facts and stories. Mansa Musa makes Kevin feel like he belongs and is understood in Time Bandits season 1, episode 6, which puts him in a hard position when it’s time for them to leave. Kevin feels a duty to save his parents, but they’ve never been as kind to him or as supportive as the Malian king. Mansa Musa encourages Kevin to save them, telling him it’s his purpose. This shows Kevin’s selflessness, as he chooses his parents even though they’ve never made him feel chosen.

2 Penelope & Kevin Began Bonding In Time Bandits

Penelope & Kevin Proved They Care About Each Other In Time Bandits

Penelope and Kevin haven’t had the greatest relationship thus far in Time Bandits. She reluctantly allows Kevin to join them on their journeys, but she still sees him as somewhat of a threat to her position as leader. Like the other time bandits, she also doesn’t appreciate his knowledge of history and frequently makes fun of him or stops him from sharing his facts. However, Time Bandits season 1, episodes 5 and 6 saw Kevin and Penelope take steps that prove they care about each other.

Penelope recognizes early in Time Bandits season 1, episode 5 that Kevin is mourning the loss of his parents and tries to cheer him up. Penelope probably would have ignored this a few episodes ago. Her wanting to help Kevin shows her growth. In Time Bandits episode 6, when Penelope starts losing her purpose, Kevin tries to stage a successful heist for her, which she tells him she appreciates. Halfway through Time Bandits season 1, Kevin and Penelope are finally starting to bond.

1 Kevin & Judy Got Separated From The Group In Time Bandits

Supreme Being Captured Judy & Could Have Taken Kevin

At the end of Time Bandits season 1, episode 5, Kevin and the bandits are sucked into an airless void when trying to go through a portal. Though they landed in Mali safely, one of their members didn’t make it through. Judy and Bittelig had briefly been trapped in a time portal in Time Bandits season 1, episode 4, but the group had no idea where Judy was this time. It wasn’t until the end of Time Bandits season 1, episode 6 that it was revealed that Supreme Being had taken Judy.

This reveal coincided with Kevin getting left behind when everyone jumps through the portal. Widgit finally made progress with reading the map and was certain he’d figured out how to bring Kevin home properly, but the boy wasn’t quick enough to get into the portal. Kevin eventually gets through the portal, but the Time Bandits season 1, episode 6 cliffhanger ending made it unclear if he’s being taken to the same place as the bandits or if Supreme Being captured him.
