2 guns and purse stolen in Idle Hour Country Club car break-ins

MACON, Ga. — Several cars at Idle Hour Country Club had their windows shattered and belongings stolen in the early hours of the evening, according to an incident report from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene at around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 19 and the deputy said he saw “several windows shattered and very dim lighting” in the country club’s parking lot, the incident report says. In total, the report says four cars were broken into.

One car had a green purse missing from her back seat. Before leaving her car, the report says she had even covered up the purse to obscure it.

Inside, the report says the purse contained $20 in cash, a debit card, credit cards, air pods, her house key and a $200 money order from her work.

But another car had firearms stolen.

One car had its front window shattered, and the owner said that a red first aid kit and two firearms were stolen, the report says. One gun, a Glock model 45 9mm semi-automatic, and another, a Smith and Wetsten model 742-2 aireweight revolve were taken.

The Glock was in the car’s center console and the Smith and West was in a door panel, the report says.

Two other cars had their windows damaged. One window was just damaged, and another was completely shattered, the report says. No items were reported stolen from either of the cars.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is still ongoing. The sheriff’s office says anyone with information can contact us at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
