10 World Of Warcraft Mounts That Are Easiest To Get
World of Warcraft boasts over a thousand mounts for players to collect across Azeroth and the surrounding areas. Many come from drops in dungeons and raids, quests, or pure luck from finding rare creatures around the zones while leveling. Mount hunting has sometimes become a Blizzard-sanctioned event, with one of the 20th-anniversary events centered around showing off old and new mounts to the other players.
While some may be easier to come by than others, knowing where to start is the best course of action. Whether players use in-depth guides or blind luck to collect mounts, there will always be another set of reins to acquire. This list is a sneak-peak at some of the mounts that are easier to obtain for new and veteran players, even if they might require some time for repeat dungeon runs.
10 Smoldering Ember Wyrm
Found in the Legion update of the Karazhan raid, players return to the halls of the giant castle and find a secret awaiting them. This poorly kept secret mount requires players to find several crystals within a hidden timer and fight a boss for a chance at this glowing dragon. Although this isn’t a guaranteed drop, this raid is easily cleared solo and can be repeated weekly.
The Smoldering Ember Wyrm is one of two mounts available in the Karazhan raid, with the other being Midnight from Attumen in the stable areas. Screen Rant‘s guide on unlocking the Smoldering Ember Wyrm goes more in-depth about the time limits and other constraints regarding acquiring the mount. This can be run multiple times across alternate characters as well, and once unlocked it is available account-wide.
9 Invincible
One of the trickier to acquire on this list, Invincible is the elusive drop from the Arthas, the Lich King in the Icecrown Citadel raid from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack. Although this is a tougher drop to achieve, this is one of the easiest raids to get through alone, as it tends to be a straight-through run. Invincible is an undead horse with chains falling off its side and a ghostly aura to it, giving the rare horse a flair for the dramatic.
Much like the previous mount, players can run through Icecrown Citadel looking for Invincible on as many characters as they want per raid lock-out, and it is available on the heroic difficulty of the raids. This straightforward horse is a great addition to any mount collection.
8 Shimmermist Runner
The Shimmermist Runner was introduced in the Shadowlands expansion pack in the Ardenweald area. This courser mount is reminiscent of a unicorn with a curved purple and blue horn atop its head. Even though it looks tricky, this mount can be acquired in as little as ten minutes of a player’s time. After making their way through a maze in the deeper parts of Ardenweald, players simply have to defeat the spriggan creature that is terrorizing the poor Shimmermist Runner to be granted the Reins of the Shimmermist Runner item.
This is one of the easiest mounts for players that are interested in horse-type mounts to achieve without grinding for reputation for characters siding with the Alliance faction. There are no additional items, tricks, or timers required for this mount, it just takes a bit of time to find your way through the maze. A simple and beautiful addition to anyone’s mount collection.
7 Twilight Drake
No list about World of Warcraft would be complete without a series of drakes being involved, and the Twilight Drake tends to be forgotten when compared to its newer or rarer siblings. Also added in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, the Twilight Drake is dropped by Sartharion, a massive black drake that was once a very formidable foe. The Twilight Drake is a void fan’s dream, with hues of purple, black, and blue laced through the dragon’s frame and down the wings.
As another easy mount, the Twilight Drake is dropped from the 25-man difficulty of the Obsidian Sanctum as long as players leave all three drake mini-bosses in the room alive. This is a very easy task that only requires heading straight for the boss in the center of the room.
6 Raven Lord
This old school mount was added in the Burning Crusade expansion, making the Raven Lord one of the oldest mounts on this list. The stunning blue raven drops from the identically modeled boss, Anzu in the Sethekk Halls dungeon within Terokkar Forest. The Reins of the Raven Lord item to acquire the mount only drops on the Heroic difficulty for the dungeon, which has no effect on how simple of a mount this is to achieve now.
This older mount still carries a Feat of Strength achievement with it, so players who also like to hunt achievements will be happy to know that their scores will jump once they acquire this mount. The Raven Lord is a popular and still very sought-after mount, so the only real obstacle to acquring it might be some bad luck.
5 Bleakhoof Ruinstrider
The Bleakhoof Ruinstrider is an underrated, easy mount to achieve, as it just takes a bit of patience instead of being genuinely difficult. Many mounts were included in the Legion expansion pack, but the mounts that were rewarded for achievements are particularly interesting. The Bleakhoof Ruinstrider is incredibly simple to obtain in current expansions from the “…And Chew Mana Buns” achievement.
This achievement and mount can be acquired by defeating 2,000 non-trivial demons across the Antoran Wastes, Krokuun, and Eredath areas in the Broken Isles. This mount is also a reward for partial fulfillment of another achievement that grants players the “Demonslayer” title. Players who take on this challenge and succeed will find their Bleakhoof Ruinstrider safely waiting for them in the mail.
4 Drake Of The North Wind
A very easily farmed mount, the Drake of the North Wind is a rare mount that happens to drop on normal versions of the Vortex Pinnacle dungeon in the Uldum region. Introduced in World of Warcraft‘s Cataclysm expansion, the Drake of the North Wind and its other cardinal drake relatives are all somewhat easily acquired with some dedication and patience. This dungeon can be farmed ten times an hour on normal, giving players who are particularly dedicated something fun to do.
The Drake of the North Wind is a blue-toned drake that has silver armor and is similar to the drakes from the East, West, and South that can be found in other areas across the zones added in Cataclysm. This mount also has a chance to appear when players open a Reins of the Quantum Courser item, as that gives any number of previous mounts, including this one.
3 Swift Gloomhoof
A dark companion to the Shimmermist Dreamrunner, the Swift Gloomhoof is just a bit more difficult to get. Dropped by a rare spawn called the Night Mare that roams around the base of a tree in Ardenweald, this mount requires a special item to be able to engage the creature. It looks similar to the Shimmermist Runner but is various shades of darker purple instead, even with the same notable leather tack it is adorned with.
The Swift Gloomhoof requires players to find a few items littered around Ardenweald and return them to Queen Ysera to create a dream catcher. After players acquire the item, they can fight the Night Mare and the Swift Gloomhoof is a guaranteed drop. It is a simple mount to acquire, just requiring a tiny bit of patience.
2 Bronze Drake
This mount is a classic addition to any mount collection and can be appreciated by new players and veterans alike. What it lacks in modern elegance and smoothness, the Bronze Drake definitely makes up for in charm and ease of acquiring. There are no multiple runs required for this drake, as it, just like the Twilight Drake, is a guaranteed drop as long as the boss is defeated.
To acquire the Bronze Drake, players have to enter the Culling of Stratholme dungeon and fight the Infinite Corrupter. The entire rest of the dungeon can be skipped, or easily razed with an area of effect spell, making this an even quicker run. In all, it takes about 15 minutes to acquire this mount if done efficiently.
1 Wildseed Cradle
Returning to Ardenweald once again, the Wildseed Cradle is an incredibly simple mount that is wholly unique to the others on this list. This whimsical cradle carries players around while they rest on soft blue cushions inside glowing purple leaves. Said to be the most precious cargo in all of Ardenweald, all players have to do to get this sweet ride is a few quests and search for a few items.
Sending players on an exploration of the Garden of Night and other more floral areas of Ardenweald, players must collect five items to get the Cache of the Moon. This is a guaranteed drop mount from the Cache of the Moon and does not take long to achieve, as all the items are found within a short distance of each other in World of Warcraft.
