10 Tips to Get Started in New World

Amazon Game Studios’ New World exploded onto the MMORPG scene a few years ago now. And given the rarity of new MMOs, it has become a mainstay for many genre fans. If you’re just picking up the game today, don’t worry, you’re not too late to enjoy the party! However as you step into Aeternum for the first time, you may well want some help; given that the game has been out for a while now. That’s why we pulled together these 10 tips to get you off to a powerful in New World.

1. Choose Your Faction Wisely

When you first start the game, you’ll be asked to pick between three factions: the Marauders, Syndicate, or Covenant. This decision sounds important and it is… well, that is if you want to get involved in the game’s faction-based PvP modes.
Generally speaking, the factions prioritise different playstyles. The Marauders focusing on combat; the Syndicate being strong with magic and the Covenant commanding faith.

Ultimately, when you decide your primary playstyle, it’s worth choosing the covenant which may best serve your playstyle.

2. Explore Thoroughly

Like most MMOs New World takes place in a bustling and sprawling world; brimming with content. While it’s tempting to launch yourself into filling your map, we recommend taking your time in the early stages of the game. Instead focusing on thoroughly exploring areas for resources, hidden treasures and quests. This will help to keep you from needing to back track later on.

3. Craft, Craft, Craft

If you play MMOs, you either love crafting or you hate it. Whichever approach you take; we recommend getting into New World’s crafting system. This is because it can become a powerful source of income, experience and items throughout your time within the game. As with most MMOs, you’ll be able to choose a crafting discipline of your choice—so it’s best to chose one whose output your player will be able to use.

4. Spend Time Mastering Combat

New World’s combat system is both challenging and rewarding; depending on the class you choose you may find yourself able to transfer skills from other titles you’ve played in the past or not. Either way, we strongly recommend that you spend time learning your class. That means trying out different weapons, skills and stats. Doing this will not only bring you closer to the game, but it will also help you come up with creative builds that will thrive; particularly in PvP.

5. Complete Faction Quests

We’ve already talked about factions; but now it’s the time to dive into them. Once you’ve started the game you’ll find plenty of faction-specific quests. It’s worth doing these soon after you get them as the reputation, experience, currency and equipment rewards are generally far superior to general questing. So keep an eye on your faction!

6. Manage Your Inventory

Ah yes, that part of MMOs. Depending on your personality, you may find inventory management incredibly satisfying or an absolute chore. Either way, this forms a critical part of New World; along with any other MMO. Specifically, just make sure you invest in enough bags or use long-term storage facilities to keep your encumbrance in check.

7. Form or Join a Company

Guilds are synonymous with the idea of the MMO; but in New World they call them Companies. As with any MMO, joining one of these groups will greatly enhance your experience by allowing you to connect with a network of players—developing skills, knowledge and relationships along the way.
Not to mention that if you want to get into the tougher raids, companies are the best way to do so.

8. Participate in Invasions and Wars

Whether you’re a long-term fan of PvP or not, this part of New World is incredibly rewarding. These large-scale faction battles are intense and strategic, but they also yield some of the game’s most valuable rewards. If you’re new to the idea of these large-scale MMO battles, we suggest approaching these with support from your company.

9. Join the Trading Post

Buying and selling is the backbone to getting the best equipment and resources for your character; so becoming familiar with the trading post is almost essential. Not to mention, it’s a great place to sell the spoils of all the content you have engaged with up until this point. That said, if you’re hoping to get started quickly, it can be worth just buying from the trading post. To do so you’ll obviously need some coins… Fortunately you can buy New World coins online relatively cheaply, to give you a head start.

10. Participate in Territory Control

We’ve already talked about invasions and wars, but territory control is something a bit more unique to New World. This faction-based system allows the game’s factions to vie for control over various of the game’s regions, in turn offering the ruling faction numerous benefits. Becoming a part of these battles is not only fun but it brings you and your teammates some enviable benefits in the process.

Like most MMOs, New World is a sprawling world of opportunity with plenty of space for exploration, expression and fun. But in order to access a lot of that fun, you need to get yourself off to a good start. Fortunately, if you follow the points on this list you’ll be able to do precisely that!
